This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our social media scanning and analysis service. We take your privacy seriously, especially given the sensitive nature of the data involved.
What Data We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. If you sign up via a third-party provider (such as Google), we receive your basic profile information from that provider.
Social Media Data (During Scans)
When you connect a social media platform and initiate a scan, we temporarily access your public posts, comments, and profile information from the platforms you authorize. This data is used solely for the purpose of AI-powered risk analysis. We access only the data necessary to perform the scan you request.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. We receive only a transaction identifier and confirmation of payment status from Stripe.
Usage Data
We collect basic usage analytics such as pages visited, scan frequency, and feature usage to improve the service. This data is not linked to your social media content.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively for:
- Performing AI-powered social media risk analysis on your connected accounts
- Generating scan reports that identify potentially problematic content
- Processing payments and managing your account and subscriptions
- Sending you scan results and account-related emails
- Improving the accuracy and performance of our service
We do not use your social media content for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than the scan you explicitly request.
Data Retention
We follow a minimal data retention approach:
- Scan data: Social media content retrieved during a scan is processed in real time and is not permanently stored beyond the active scan session. Only the scan results (flagged posts, risk scores, and recommendations) are retained.
- Re-scan data: If you opt in to the re-scan feature, your previous scan results are encrypted and stored so we can compare them against new scan results.
- Account data: Your account information is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Payment records: Transaction records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Social Cleaner:
- Supabase: Database hosting and user authentication. Your account data and scan results are stored in Supabase with encryption at rest.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe handles all payment information in accordance with PCI DSS standards.
- Anthropic (Claude): AI analysis of social media content. Post content is sent to Claude's API for risk assessment. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models when accessed via their API.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their respective policies.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We will never sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information or social media data to any third party. Your data is used solely to provide you with the Clear My Social service. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any entity not directly involved in providing the service.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you at any time.
- Deletion: You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
- Export: You can export your scan results and reports at any time through the dashboard.
- Correction: You can update your account information at any time.
- Withdraw consent: You can disconnect any social media platform and revoke our access at any time.

GDPR and CCPA Compliance
For European Union Residents (GDPR)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We process your data based on your explicit consent when you initiate a scan. You have the right to withdraw consent, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and legitimate interest in providing the service you requested (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
For California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt-out of the sale of personal information. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, row-level security on our database, and secure API authentication.
